  1. Even at 89, she still performed to perfection. Godspeed, Dame Smith. Say hi to Dumbledore, Snape, and the others for us.

  2. RIP sweet Dame Maggie Smith. You have brought me countless memories of joy. You have truly touched my life. Dreams of Neverland…precious lady. 😇

  3. Dame Maggie always had a warmness about in her characters…she did in this and as Caro in the Ya Ya Sisterhood.😊😊

  4. "The fight isn't over for Captain James Hook. He wants you back, he knows you'll follow Maggie and Jack to the ends of the earth and beyond, and by heaven, you must find a way!"

The way she delivered that line stuck in my head as a little kid. Now when I'm in the middle of any crisis or difficult situation and things feel hopeless, I hear Maggie's voice telling me, "by heaven, you must find a way!" Rest in peace.

  5. I remember her most fondly from The Secret Garden, as Mrs. Medlock, the head housekeeper of Misselthwaite Manor.

Her character came across as an overly stern and harsh lady, but we later learn it was because of the stresses of her job and caring for the young Colin Craven.

Mrs. Medlock was as caring and loving as all of Maggie Smith's characters. Minerva McGonnagal reminded me of Mrs. Medlock very much.

  6. Now Peter & Wendy are reunited in heaven! Two thespians who brought wonder to my childhood are now beyond the golden gates. Took good care of those who never grew up by heart Robin and Maggie!

  7. RIP Dame Maggie Smith. Granny Smith – Hook. Mother Superior – Sister Act 1 & 2. Prof. McGongall – Harry Potter.

  8. 10 years since Peter’s last visit to see Wendy.

10 years between Robin’s passing and Dame Maggie’s.

    May they both fly high.

  9. RIP Dame Maggie Smith (December 28, 1934 – September 27, 2024), aged 89
    And
    RIP Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014), aged 63
You will be remembered as legends

  10. I think it’s weird when people talk about Maggie Smith as if she wasn’t famous before Harry Potter or Downton Abbey. I was born in the early 80s and grew up watching her on VHS movies as a kid (Death on the Nile, Evil Under the Sun, Murder By Death anyone?) and of course later when I was older I saw her older more adult films like Room With a View and The Prime Miss Jean Brodie on DVD before the internet age while in high school and college. She was in a bunch of hit movies in the 1990s that I saw in theaters like Hook, Sister Act, The Secret Garden, and the First Wives Club, and that same decade she won a Tony Award. Before that she had won one Academy Award in the 1960s and a second in the 1970s. In the 1980s she won a Golden Globe Award. Plus she had a ton of BAFTA wins and nominations before the 2000s. In short she was well loved and well known long before Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Sister Act was such big hit in the United States I don’t think many Americans would have not known who Maggie Smith was after that movie.

  11. This movie is one of my favorites with Maggie Smith.

I also like her in Harry Potter.

R.I.P. Maggie Smith. thank you for all your great acting.

  12. I never noticed that when Wendy shows Peter his picture in the book, he puts his hands on his hips. He then drops them when he notices the pose is the same in the book.
