The Italian is very loud
I’ve watched the full match and looks like Patrick already fixing her earlier take back with the forehand and backhand. More obvious with the forehand and first step seems a lot faster too
Next 2 rounds will be interesting. Putinseva can make a lot of balls. So does Kostyuk if she wins that. You have to be confident with your ball striking to win those matches. 2 players she would have been very susceptible to losing this entire year – but 2 players you'd feel she would likely beat in her prime on a hard court. My gut feeling is the new coach is gonna make a really big difference. It really comes down to confidence with her, being respectable on the return of serve, and keeping the unforced error count down in rallies while being smart about constructing rallies and knowing where to be neutral vs being more aggressive and setting up angles for winners, etc
Bronzetti would do better to work a little more on her tennis and a little less on her "Ahhhh!"

The combination of the court speed and Osaka ball striking should do her well, in addition to her getting better returning serve. I hope she can make a solid here in Beijing or Wuhan to follow.
