In 1995, Soichiro Takakura (Kento Yamazaki) is a scientist and works on developing a robot. He is also on the verge of completing a plasma storage battery, following on the wishes of the deceased Matsushita. The man Matsushita was a friend of Soichiro Takakura’s late father.
Outside of work, Soichiro Takakura has peaceful days with his cat Pito and his fiancé Riko, who is the daughter of Matsushita. He is soon betrayed by his business partner and also by his fiance Riko. Soichiro Takakura loses control of his company and the work he has done on the robot and plasma storage battery.
Soichiro Takakura then opts to place himself into a “cold sleep” freezing machine, hoping to find a better future. When he wakes up, he discovers that he is in the year 2025.

    The cat is adorable and the main actor isn't bad. But the plot is dreadful (too predictable and a bit sexist). The female character is either evil or helpless (and badly need to be rescued). It's playing on Netflix now but I'm surprised Netflix would touch a film with such outdated female characters.

    I just watched this movie. It's okay, pretty forgettable but the best scene in the movie is when I thought Pete the cat drove off in Sochiro's truck after Ms. Shiraishi incapacitates Soichiro. She gets attacked by Pete and he runs off then you hear a window breaking and when she investigates it the window is open and you hear a truck starting up then driving off. The way the scene was edited at first it seemed like the cat drove off in the car (in actuality it's Soichiro coming back from the future to correct the past).

    I don't know why this movie gets so much hate. I thought it was pretty good, even people that read the novel think it was good.

    We just watched this movie today and I came to look for now one of my favorite scenes of the movie, where PETE tries to imitate/read off how people laugh. "Haha"

    He could've just lived normally with his sister though… why decide to go to coldsleep again??? and the sister also goes to coldsleep. Like what? that's just dumb. What's the "future" you going to coldsleep again have anything to do with anything other than preserving your youth? the only version of you that had to go to coldsleep was the one from that time… *ROFL*
