In 2009 I traveled to Nepal for an enviromental project for J-wave radio on global warming and how it is causing the glaciers on the Himalayan mountains to melt. This trip has been the most meaningful project I have ever been a part of and I hold this experience very close to my heart.
I remember landing at Kathmandu airport in the middle of the night. It was very dark and a little eerie. The road to the hotel was also dark and very quiet. Even the hotel looked as though it was vacant.
And then I woke up the next morning to birds chirping and the blinding sun in my face. I walked to the window and I saw women hanging clothes on their rooftops, cars jamming through the city with horns that played music! This city was so ALIVE!!!!! My eyes were wide with excitement and curiosity!
We started in Kathmandu, stopped at Chitwan National Park, Pokhara, and then our final destination, the Himalayas. I remember like yesterday the smell of each city and the genuine smiles and the heartfelt “Namaste’s”. I was shocked and devastated to hear the news of this terrible earthquake. With all the charities out there, it can be overwhelming to choose one. I personally chose the American Red Cross. J-Wave is also teaming with Red Cross Japan for charities on their website.

Please help contribute in any way you can. Even if it is just a prayer.🙏🏼 #namaste #prayfornepal
